The quality of the CBD extract and the concentration (it’s potency) are the two most important factors in the effectiveness of CBD products. Tinctures are the most popular way to administer CBD. Most tinctures are sold in 1oz (30ml) dropper bottles. The CBD extracts or isolates are blended with carrier oils such as grape seed oil, MCT oil, hemp seed oil, or even extra virgin olive oil. The end-product is simply called “CBD Oil.” CBD oil consists of cannabidiol (CBD), mixed in a carrier oil. In addition to the two major ingredients, manufacturers will add aromas and flavors to enhance the taste.
The active ingredient (the strength) of the CBD oil is usually listed in milligrams. For example, two CBD oils, both in 30 ml bottles, may be labeled as 500mg and 1000mg. One contains 500 mg of CBD and the other contains 1,000 milligrams, in the same size bottle. One is twice as concentrated as the other. It would take twice as much of the 500mg oil to get the same amount of CBD per serving.
Serving size must also be considered for proper dosage. Average serving size is usually between ½ to 1 full dropper. It is important to note that one serving does not contain the full milligram dose that is boldly displayed on the label. One 30ml bottle contains approximately 30 servings. Therefore, one serving of the 1000mg CBD oil should yield about 33 milligrams of CBD.
For these reasons, honest manufacturing and labeling is hugely important. Since this is still a non-regulated industry, third party independent lab testing is the best way to check the potency (and honesty) of each product. All of Pura Verde’s products are USA sourced and are independently tested by a third-party laboratory, guaranteed to meet or exceed the labeled potency.
