CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol. It is one of the two major active ingredients of the cannabis plant, commonly known as marijuana. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), is the other active ingredient. THC is responsible for the psychotropic “high” effect and though not scientifically proven, the CBD component is reported to have some wellness related benefits.  The cannabis plant has a higher concentration of THC and a low concentration of CBD. The hemp plant, which is a cousin of cannabis, has much higher levels of CBD and lower levels of THC.  CBD derived from hemp is used in multiple applications, topical, oral and smokable.
